Unselfishness

Unselfishness, I've been deciding whether or not I want to enlist in the United States Marine Cor., or go to college like the average American. I've spend the first 18 years of my life living life for myself. Sure, I've been in student council the majority of my life and have worked hard to make sure the school I was attending was the best that I could make it. However, I've never done anything truly for someone else. In Student Government, I really ran for president (6 years) and representative (4 years) simply because I thought it'd be an outstanding addition to my resume someday. It seems like the majority of people live unselfish lives- pushing people out of the way to accomplish something for themselves...whether it be an elected position, a grade, a job, or a higher social status. Not all people are like that of course, but enough are that it truly decimates my outlook on the American people. I thought maybe, for once in my life, I could do something for someone else. Serve a common good for the people. Who knows, sometimes one person can change the world...
